Bioenergy

Developing biological pathways for cleaner energy production

Cyvora explores the conversion of biological residues and organic resources into energy-related products through biological and biochemical processing.

A domed biogas digester set into the ground behind a brick farmhouse, a steel gas pipe rising from it and a stack of dried crop residue alongside.

Our work includes the recovery and processing of useful fractions from biological feedstocks that can be incorporated into energy applications. BioNx represents one pathway within this broader development area, investigating how residual biological materials can be transformed into fuel-related inputs.

The technology development process focuses on feedstock characterization, biological conversion, separation and stabilization, formulation, blending and performance evaluation. This approach aims to extract additional value from biological resources while reducing the amount of material requiring disposal.

Cyvora's bioenergy work is part of a broader strategy to develop integrated biorefineries in which a single biological feedstock can generate multiple valuable outputs rather than being directed toward a single end use.

Applications include
bio-based fuel additives, residual biomass conversion and integrated biological energy systems.

Pipeline

The programmes behind this work.

Where each one has reached, and what it can honestly be said to do today, is on the pipeline page.

  • Cyvora Energy (BioNx)

Bio-based fuel solutions and fuel additives derived from biological and waste resources.

Technology

The capabilities it draws on.

  • Bioconversion

Microbial and biological processes (such as fermentation and composting) that turn organic waste into stable, useful intermediates and products.
